Earthquake Relief Team Blog 10: Home Sweet Home!

April 29, 2010 by Hannah McLear

Susie and Julia returned to the States on Saturday (1/30/10), while the rest of team remained in Cap Haitien. The travel from Cap Haitien to Turks and Caicos and then to Atlanta went very smoothly. Susie was surprised by Gracie, her daughter who she thought was at Samford University, being at the airport along with Jon and Olivia. It was a very happy reunion to say the least. Julia continued on her journey back to Indianapolis where she will be rooting for her Colts on Super Bowl Sunday. Susie and Julia created a life-long friendship from this experience through being roommates, dinner mates, and travel mates. Immediate reflections from Susie include the amazing proofs that the team was covered in prayer throughout their trip, and it was truly a God-ordained mission. She is also concerned about the vulnerability of the newly orphaned children, and asks for your continued prayers for their safety and well being. Susie asks for your prayers for all of the relief team members as they return home, that they transition from the heartaches witnessed in Cap Haitien to the “every day” normalcy back home. A specific prayer request is for restful sleep without vivid dreams of the past week. As we close out this first chapter of the EHIH earthquake relief, Susie and Jon send their heartfelt gratitude to all those who expressed well wishes for the EHIH relief team, continually prayed for this trip, and financially supported this effort. God bless you all!
